We have a list of exciting things to try on your next visit to Dallas. So, let's look at seven exciting activities in Dallas you can experience.

7 Places for a Weekend Getaway in Dallas You Can't Miss

You can do so much with a weekend in Dallas-Fort Worth, from visiting historic districts and browsing local goods to admiring centuries of beautiful artwork at world-class museums.

You could walk around the iconic White Rock Lake Park with plenty of space to sightsee. For nightlife, you can check out Deep Ellum for live music and cocktails.

There are so many fun things to do in the area that you may not fit it all in just one weekend. If you're traveling in the summer heat, looking for one of the many hotels with a rooftop pool to cool down at the end of the day is a good idea.

1. Dallas Zoo: A Wild Adventure Waits for You

The Dallas Zoo was first established in 1888 and is one of the top activities in Dallas for a weekend that you will never forget. And while you're there, take the chance to feed the giraffes.

The “Giants of the Savanna” section will have you feeling like you stepped into the Lion King movie. This part of the zoo has elephants, warthogs, zebras, and lions. You could also get up close and personal at the Wild Encounters section, where you can interact with wildlife.

2. Reunion Tower GeO-Deck: Spectacular City Views

In the middle of Dallas, you'll find the GeO-Deck on the Reunion Tower. One of the best ways to start your weekend getaway in Dallas is to check out the breathtaking views of the city from 470 feet in the air.

Learn about the city’s historic homes and landmarks with interactive screens at the Reunion Tower GeO-Deck. You can even zoom in on them for a closer look. It's a perfect way to start a fantastic weekend in the Lone Star State.

And if you're looking for somewhere to pop the question or renew your vows, the GeO-Deck is a beautiful and romantic place to share with the one you love.

3. Bishop Arts District: Bohemian Charm at This Art Hub

Another fun thing to do in Dallas for a weekend is a stroll through the eclectic Bishop Arts District. This is one of the most unique areas in Dallas, with local goods, arts, antiques, boutiques, and plenty of places serving food and drinks. There are usually some performances or musicians playing somewhere, too.

You could grab something vintage from Zola's Everyday Vintage. Or pick up some local art at one of the local artisan shops. Then you can grab some food at one of the many restaurants.

Before you leave, consider grabbing some drinks at the Whitehall Exchange or stopping for dessert at Emporium Pies. After you fill up on food, you can go to the famous landmark Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff and see where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested.

4. Dallas Farmers Market: Fresh Flavors and Local Delights

If you want to find things to do downtown, you can wander through the Dallas Farmers Market. There's much more here than just traditional veggies. However, you can select some of the juiciest Texas-grown tomatoes at The Shed or The Market.

The Dallas Farmers Market is home to local cheese, beer, bread, meats, desserts, smoothies, seafood, and more. You can also find antiques, furniture, and clothing at some of the shops around the market. Most shoppers leave here with a wide selection of local and healthy treats.

5. Klyde Warren Park: Relax and Recharge in This Urban Oasis

Nestled between downtown and uptown Dallas lies Klyde Warren Park. Here, you'll find a natural environment that offers architectural marvels and beautiful green space. You can take a break from your day in the bustling city and watch the birds from the bench or sit by the fountain.

There are many free activities to enjoy, including games and a reading room. There's also usually a wide array of food trucks nearby so that you can have a little picnic in the park.

6. Perot Museum of Nature and Science: A Unique Experience

Another great spot to add to your list of things to do is the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in the Dallas Arts District. You could check out the gem and mineral hall, especially if you're mesmerized by pretty crystals. Then you can explore the dinosaur exhibit with fossils and ancient bones.

You can also check out the 4K digital theater, where you can immerse yourself in educational films.

7. Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum

Located in the heart of Dallas, the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum serves as a testament to the strength of the human spirit during the darkest times in history. Through thoughtful curation, the museum takes you on an emotional exploration of the Holocaust, drawing connections to contemporary human rights issues.

This powerful experience fosters essential conversations about global injustices, inspiring a commitment to a world founded on empathy and understanding. A visit to this museum leaves a lasting impact, encouraging each visitor to shape a more compassionate future for all.
